One of the giants of Italian 20th century design is Angelo Mangiarotti. He is the designer behind the table lamp Aida Lamp, which was designed in 1988 and is now back in production thanks to the Danish design company Karakter. Aida Lamp has a unique design consisting of a frame in aluminum and steel. The powder-coated base in black elegantly and modernly balances the white shade in acrylic glass, which spreads a pleasant light.
Aida Lamp is a table lamp whose design almost seems to defy the laws of gravity. The lamp brings to mind Mangiarotti's celebrated architecture where slender, elegant columns support large, heavy ceilings in a manner as contradictory as this lamp.
