Fritz Hansen's bestseller Series 7 was designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1955 and comes here as a desk chair.3117 Series 7 follows the same design as the original, 3107, but the legs have been replaced by a chrome-plated height-adjustable base on wheels.
Series 7 is based on the same innovative manufacturing process as Jacobsen's classic Ant chair. The seat and backrest are created in one piece, consisting of nine layers of veneer layered with two layers of Indian cotton and pressed into shape over steam. This has given the chair its thin and stylish shell; the backrest can also be reclined, adding to the elevated level of comfort. In this model of the 3117 Series 7, the shell is fully encased, providing an extra soft and comfortable seat. A wide variety of fabrics and leathers are available.
Series 7 has become Fritz Hansen's best-selling chair of all time and has been launched in a series of different versions. Nordiska Galleriet was the first retailer of Series 7 in Sweden, and the chair is still our best-selling piece of furniture today.
